WASHINGTON – Federal district judge Virginia Phillips, following on her September decision striking down the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law in a case brought by the Log Cabin Republicans, ordered, Oct. 12 the Department of Defense to immediately cease enforcement of the statute barring gays and lesbians from serving openly in the Armed Forces.
This is a huge step in the right direction, it’s about time that lgbt citizens receive equal treatment for the equal taxes that we pay.
